When I arrived I was a mess. I had a five-year relationship; I had a small child and for me to break up the family was horrible. But a person had crossed my path and I didn’t know what to do. Having this space to talk, without funnels, really helped me to understand myself better and to know what to do.
I’m Patricia Maguet, clinical psychologist specializing in relationships. I’ve been working for real couples like yours for 27 years.
I know that beyond the relationship problems, the separations, the infidelities… there’s you. That is why I have chosen the best professionals to guide you and help you leave behind everything that prevents you from being happy in love.
If you arrived here, maybe you feel that…
You see that your relationship is not working as you would like it to and you can’t get your partner to seek help with you.
You have realized that because of things you have lived through in your life, your backpack is loaded with things that do not let you enjoy your relationship. Perhaps you have suffered abuse, lived in a family with many needs, you are carrying a very painful loss…
You have deep doubts about the future of your relationship and you want to be able to talk about them in a safe environment.
Sometimes you wonder if your relationship is toxic, you doubt if what you are experiencing may be abuse or mistreatment and you don’t know who to talk to.
You have lost your sexual desire or perhaps your sex life is not as you would like it to be and you want to remedy this.
You have separated or divorced and are unable to get over the breakup. The sadness, loneliness, anger, the feeling of emptiness… are with you and you want to feel good again.
You are living a very conflictive divorce and your ex doesn’t let you even breathe. You need to know how to handle these situations to get your life back.
You’re in a relationship that clearly doesn’t suit you. Your family, your friends, your whole environment tells you to separate and even though you see it, you can’t find the way out.
Whenever you are in a relationship you end up suffering. It seems that you don’t know how to choose because there are stories that repeat and repeat themselves and you want to break this negative spiral.
You don’t like the way you are; you think your self-esteem is low, you feel insecure and you want to turn it around.
How do you know that counseling or individual therapy is for you?
In order to know when it is time to ask for professional help, you can be guided by situations in your daily life in which you seek help from someone else. There are three scenarios in which I recommend that you start therapy:
When you recognize that you have difficulties or clearly feel bad, and although you have tried to fix it in different ways, you do not succeed on your own.
If you are not clear about whether to continue or separate yourself or if there is any decision that you are resisting, individual therapy can help you to calmly analyze your situation.
If you need to move forward, you feel like you’re stuck and can’t look forward as you would like to.

What is individual psychotherapy?
Individual therapy is a type of therapy that can be done by specialist psychologists, with the main objective of resolving the difficulties you are experiencing and helping you to recover your well-being.
How often are the sessions?
The frequency of the sessions is adapted to the needs of each case. In general, if your level of suffering is high, we prefer to start with weekly sessions. As you progress, they can be biweekly or even monthly, depending on the case.
To whom is individual therapy for?
There are still people who are reluctant to ask for psychological help because they think “they’re not crazy”. Individual psychotherapy is for you if you think it’s time to get professional help to overcome what you’re not managing to solve or cope with on your own.
What do we do during the sessions?
I’m sure you’ve seen images of psychological therapy more than once in a movie or a TV series. We don’t use a couch and our first goal is to get to know you better. So we’ll talk about what’s bothering you most right now and how you’ve made the decision to seek help. It will also be very important to find out what you have tried up to now so that we can be clear about what hasn’t worked. With all this information, we can begin to understand what is happening to you and start looking for new ways to deal with it.
What does therapy consist in?
Individual therapy is a process in which the starting point is your demands,. The professional makes the initial evaluation and together you decide on the goals to be achieved. During the sessions, the psychologist will provide you with the resources, strategies and techniques you need to advance in the direction you want. In addition, it is frequent that you take “homework” home with you.
¿How many sessions are necessary?
We work within the framework of the search for solutions so we do not extend the therapy longer than necessary. In some cases a 1-2 session orientation may be sufficient. In other cases the work can be longer but with us the therapy always has a beginning and an end.
How long are the sessions?
The sessions usually take between 50 and 60 minutes.
