When I arrived I was a mess. I had a five-year relationship; I had a small child and for me to break up the family was horrible. But a person had crossed my path and I didn't know what to do. HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT COUNSELING OR INDIVIDUAL THERAPY IS FOR YOU?
In order to know when it is time to ask for professional help, you can be guided by situations in your daily life in which you seek help from someone else. There are three scenarios in which I recommend that you start therapy:

Individual therapy is a type of therapy that can be done by specialist psychologists, with the main objective of resolving the difficulties you are experiencing and helping you to recover your well-being.
The frequency of the sessions is adapted to the needs of each case. In general, if your level of suffering is high, we prefer to start with weekly sessions. As you progress, they can be biweekly or even monthly, depending on the case.
There are still people who are reluctant to ask for psychological help because they think “they’re not crazy”. Individual psychotherapy is for you if you think it’s time to get professional help to overcome what you’re not managing to solve or cope with on your own.
I’m sure you’ve seen images of psychological therapy more than once in a movie or a TV series. We don’t use a couch and our first goal is to get to know you better. So we’ll talk about what’s bothering you most right now and how you’ve made the decision to seek help. It will also be very important to find out what you have tried up to now so that we can be clear about what hasn’t worked. With all this information, we can begin to understand what is happening to you and start looking for new ways to deal with it.
The sessions usually take between 50 and 60 minutes.
Individual therapy is a process in which the starting point is your demands,. The professional makes the initial evaluation and together you decide on the goals to be achieved. During the sessions, the psychologist will provide you with the resources, strategies and techniques you need to advance in the direction you want. In addition, it is frequent that you take “homework” home with you.
We work within the framework of the search for solutions so we do not extend the therapy longer than necessary. In some cases a 1-2 session orientation may be sufficient. In other cases the work can be longer but with us the therapy always has a beginning and an end.
